Women in Co-operatives and MSMEs Conference

Cabinet Secretary, Cooperatives and Micro and Small Enterprise Development, Hon Simón Chelugui was a Chief guest during the inaugural Conference which targeted women in Business. Some of the dignitaries present included H.E Jonathan Bii, Governor Uasin-gishu County, among other guests attended the event.

The CS mentioned  that women play a crucial role in economic development and social change as well as appreciated the efforts women put to grow and overcome various challenges.

He also underscored the role women play in the implementation of the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and encouraged them to take advantage of the value chains that the government is rolling out.

The CS committed to offering more support initiatives to the Women MSEs and promised to ensure that state agencies under his ministry were in touch with the MSEs . In the near future, the CS committed to the ministry building and equipping a potato cooling facility in the region to support farmers who end up going at loss due to lack of this important facility.
