PS Champions MSEA's Role in Sustainable Enterprise Growth

Hon. Susan Mang'eni PS State Department For MSMEs Development addressed MSEA County Heads, highlighting the key role of micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in Kenya’s economic transformation. She called for a focus on creating sustainable enterprises capable of generating jobs, contributing to employment and economic development.

The PS outlined MSEA's integral role within the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), emphasizing the need to develop value chain-driven enterprises in key sectors such as dairy, leather, textiles, rice production, blue economy, and construction. She urged County Heads to guide MSEs in identifying opportunities within their counties, organizing and mobilizing them along value chains to unlock the potential of local markets and drive economic growth.

She encouraged a collaborative business ecosystem approach, where County Heads engage stakeholders, foster linkages, and implement end-to-end interventions to support enterprise growth.

MSEA Board Director Billy Baltazar reinforced the need to support MSEs in scaling from micro to small, small to medium, and eventually to large enterprises. The MSEA CEO/DG Mr. Henry Rithaa reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to advancing the President’s vision of transforming the MSE sector for sustainable growth.

With projects such as NYOTA and KJET,  MSEA remains committed to aligning its programs with key value chain priorities to foster impactful and inclusive economic development across Kenya.
