15th Development Partners Forum

Principal Secretary Susan Mang'eni attended the 15th Development Partners Forum hosted by the Deputy President, H.E. Prof. Kithure Kindiki , under the theme, “Kenya Youth Divided, Bridging the Gap.”

As a youthful nation, Kenya must prepare for the significant demographic and economic opportunities ahead. Over the next decade, an estimated 1.2 billion young people in developing countries (Kenya included) will reach working age, yet current trends indicate that only about one-third of the jobs required will be available as formal employment.

This makes entrepreneurship a critical bridge for young people to become economically productive, create jobs and build sustainable livelihoods.

To bridge the unemployment gap, we are actively supporting youth enterprise through initiatives such as the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement - NYOTA Project and the Kenya Jobs and Economic Transformation Project - KJET Project, which provide entrepreneurs and MSMEs with business skills, market linkages, access to finance and mentorship.
