PS Susan Mang’eni Inspects NYOTA Project Training in Machakos County

This morning, the Ministry conducted a visit to the Machakos Town Constituency NYOTA Project Training Centre, where a total of 364 youth entrepreneurs drawn from the wards of Machakos Central, Mumbuni North, Mua, Kiima Kimwe, Kalama, and Mutituni are currently undertaking a four-day business training programme under the Business Support Component of the NYOTA Project.

During the visit, the Ministry reiterated the need for County Governments across the country to adopt business-friendly regulatory frameworks that facilitate the establishment, operation, and growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). In this regard, a request has been made to County Governors to emulate the exemplary measures adopted by counties in the Western Kenya region, which have implemented a two-year licensing holiday for NYOTA entrepreneurs, easing the cost of doing business for emerging enterprises.

The engagement was attended by several leaders, including Hon. Francis Ngunga, Member of the County Assembly (MCA) for Mua Ward; Hon. Caleb Mule, Member of Parliament for Machakos Town Constituency; and Mr. Jamal Ibrahim, Assistant County Commissioner for Machakos Central Division.
