Fostering Collaboration between the Ministry and Co-operative University of Kenya
Earlier today, the MSME and Development PS Susan Mangeni hosted the newly appointed Chancellor of the Co-operative University of Kenya (CUK), Dr. Benard Chitunga, during a courtesy visit to the ministry.
The visit marks an important milestone in fostering collaboration between the Ministry of Cooperatives and MSMEs and the Co-operative University of Kenya and its role in driving the government’s agenda of empowering cooperatives and MSMEs as engines of economic growth and social progress.
Ps Mangeni highlighted the vital role of CUK in building capacity, advancing research, and equipping cooperative societies and MSMES with the tools needed to thrive in the modern economic landscape.
Discussions focused on leveraging the university's position as an anchor institution to drive growth and innovation within the Cooperative and MSME movement in Kenya.
Hon. Mangeni emphasized the need to harness the synergies between academia and government to address challenges facing cooperatives and MSMEs, particularly in areas such as financial inclusion, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
Dr. Chitunga reiterated his commitment to ensuring the university continues to be a hub for knowledge, skills development, and solutions tailored to the unique needs of Kenya’s economy.
