In a significant boost to grassroots economic empowerment, MSME Development PS Susan Mangeni was joined by Hon. Mohamed Ali, MP for Nyali Constituency, during the Uwezo Fund Phase 9 Cheque Issuance Ceremony held at the Nyali Constituency Development offices.

During the event, Mangeni oversaw the disbursement of Ksh. 3.88 million to 29 beneficiary groups, comprising women and persons with disabilities (PWDs). This latest tranche brings the total Uwezo Fund disbursement in Nyali Constituency to Ksh. 21.7 million

“These numbers are not merely about funds; they are about hope rekindled, dignified living, and a firm belief that enterprise is the way forward for sustainable development,” said Mangeni.

The PS highlighted the government’s commitment to inclusive growth under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), emphasizing support for micro and small businesses through integrated enterprise support services, including training, market linkages, digitization, and mentorship.

“This funding will significantly support business growth, helping our youth and women entrepreneurs thrive — the very heart of Kenya’s economic transformation. It’s all about empowering communities and creating real change at the grassroots level,” she emphasized, urging all beneficiaries to repay dutifully, use the funds prudently, and grow their businesses with intent and accountability

Mangeni further urged MSMEs in the coastal region, particularly Nyali, to tap into high-potential value chains such as fisheries, aquaculture, marine transport, coconut processing, creative arts, beach tourism, and textile production, especially those aligned with the blue economy.

The event reaffirmed the government’s unwavering support to MSMEs as vital drivers of economic transformation and social progress whose vision is to create a Kenya where no dream is too small, no business is too small, and no citizen is left behind
