Kitale Agricultural Show

Hon. Susan Mang’eni joined PS for Crops Development at the Kitale Agricultural Show in partnership with the County Government of Trans-Nzoia under the leadership of H.E. Gov. George Natembeya.
Agriculture being a key pillar in H.E. William Samoei Ruto Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), it remains the backbone of our economy and is very central in the creation of employment and sustainability of livelihoods, especially for the rural population that constitutes over 70% of the total population in Kenya.
In the MSME sector, the commitment of the department is to deepen financial inclusion to every corner of the country in order to accelerate the enterprising of farming through mechanization, access to affordable and quality farm inputs, capacity building, as well as market development, and access to competitive and sustainable markets for inclusive economic growth. I emphasized the importance of making farming more attractive through profitability like other lucrative professions, in order to create competitive jobs for the young people.
PS MSME also highlighted the boldness and intentionality of government in establishing County Agricultural & Industrial Parks (CAIPs) across the country that are geared towards achieving industrialization in every corner of the country to enable market proximity for agricultural produce, value addition to agricultural produce for increased revenue to our farmers; and the devolved creation of jobs for the youth.
