International Youth Day
As we celebrate International Youth Day, we recognize the immense power and potential within our youthful generation. We call upon our young people to be more innovative and create startups that can leverage on the various financial opportunities rolled out by the government. To address the high unemployment rate facing our youths, we should move away from over reliance on traditional employment models and embrace entrepreneurship throughout the priority value chains established by the government. Taking into consideration the challenges that the young people are facing in accessing employment, markets and financial support to engage into entrepreneurship, the government has rolled out various programs that are aimed at creating job opportunities and capacity Such as the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA), Centre For Entrepreneurship (C4E) and Kenya Jobs and Economic Transformation project (KJET).As a state department, our commitment extends to collaborating with various stakeholders to support MSMEs, focusing on value addition, business formalization, and youth empowerment through programs and initiatives like geared towards financial empowerment, policy advocacy and skills development.
