‘There are so many opportunities in the maize value chain for instance using the maize waste to produce animal feeds, composed manure and climate smart farming that aligns with the global efforts of combating climate change, creating more job opportunities and creating sustainable livelihoods.’’ Susan Mangeni explained.
The government aims to create more vibrant and sustainable small enterprises for the youths through financial inclusion and capacity building which will provide them with the necessary skills.

“As Kenya continues to navigate the challenges of youth unemployment and skills mismatch, the efforts of the State Department for MSMEs will remain vital in unlocking the potential of the country’s young population.” Ps Susan Mang’eni.
Through the engagement, the youths raised concern on access to finance and market as their key challenges.
The Department for MSMEs has addressed some of key challenges through several key initiatives like the Hustler’s Fund that provides financial support to young entrepreneurs, enabling them to start and grow their businesses. The government through the Youth Enterprise Development Fund offers affordable loans to youth-owned enterprises, promoting job creation and economic independence.
“By facilitating access to finance, we are promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, and providing skills training. The department is not only addressing the immediate needs of young entrepreneurs but also laying the foundation for sustainable economic growth” The PS added
Together, we are building a brighter future for our MSME community through the different projects we are implementing across the country.
