Center for Circular Economy
PS MSME Hon. Susan Mang'eni together with Principal Secretary for Cooperatives Hon. Patrick Kilemi held an engagement with the Italian delegation led by Mr. Andrea Demarco from The United Nations Industrial Development Organization ; with representatives from Lavazza Foundation and E4Impact Entrepreneurship Center Kenya.
The team is in the country on a scoping mission to pilot a first of its kind in the world - Center for Circular Economy in Coffee. The Center for Circular Economy in Coffee is a global precompetitive platform for enhancing and nurturing the circular economy principles and practices within the coffee sector.
The main objective of the center is to collate and share information, good practices, and solutions on circular economy in relation to the coffee value chain; through collaboration with various stakeholders from the coffee sector, public and private institutions, academia, and local communities.
The center aspires to enhance the environmental, social, cultural and economic sustainability of the coffee ecosystem and assist coffee stakeholders through knowledge transfer and mobilization of resources for the adaptation and implementation of circular solutions.
The support of the Italian delegation was welcomed and committed to further progressive collaborations.
